Pictures from China

The Great Wall of China

Our time with Molly

I know everyone has been anxious to hear how Molly is doing. I am sorry I haven't posted sooner but it has been so crazy here. She did not cry when they placed her in my arms, in fact she did really well and gladly accepted the cheerios I had to offer. Most of the other babies were screaming their heads off. I passed out lots of lollipops. We were allowed to take the babies up to the room about a half an hour later. I took off one layer of clothes, she came in four layers. I made her a bottle and then it was time to go back down to answer questions from a government official and sign papers. They have you place a red thumb print on all of your signatures. Then we went to our rooms for the evening. Zac and I ordered room service. I changed Molly and gave her a bottle. She and Zac were out by 9:00pm. This morning she woke at 5:45am. She has a cold and is pulling on her ears.

Today was pretty busy as well. She has not been eating well and a little more cranky. She cries when I put her down. I gave her to Zac so I could hop in the shower and when I went into the bathroom she kept calling out MaMa. It is amazing how well she has bonded to me. She say Dada and baba. She loves music and will sing with me. She hated her bath today, screamed bloody murder. We received our official adoption papers this afternoon. As far as China is concerned, she is official Molly Mei Rohan. She will need to be re-adopted in the states. Then all 9 babies with parents headed to a local supermarket for supplies. Zac had fun buying Chinese candy for all his friends. I got the thumbs up from many older chinese woman. Apparently they approved of the way I had Molly dressed, Covered from head to toe. Many other families were scolded. Many chinese people have come up to tell me how beautiful she is. Many have said she is as beautiful and should be an actress one day. She must have some features that Chinese woman desire. She has wide eyes and pink skin, she is petite. All of the babies in our group are beautiful with many different personalities.

I did want to mention what a big help Zac has been to me. I would not be able to manage this trip by myself. He carries Molly when I need to do paperwork or go to the bathroom. He has feed her for me too. He helps me carry the diaper bag all over the place. Very heavy with Molly to carry as well. He has been a pleasure and is really enjoying himself.

We went to a group dinner this evening, and our guides ordered for us. It was a very upscale place and the food was delicious. Zac was the only one able to eat all the spicy food. One of the other Dad's has challenged him to a eat off the next time out. There were nine high chairs set up and the guides ordered some food for the babies. Molly could not get enough of the noodles and steamed eggs. She was clapping her hands and smiling up a storm. She has dimples!!

After dinner, I sent for the doctor to have a look in her ears. No ear instrument just a little flash light and then he smelled them and said they were clear??? He listened to her heart and lungs and said they were normal. He said just a cold and recommended some herbs. Very different from any pediatrician visit I have ever had.

Well, it is 9:30pm and both my babies are sleeping and I plan on joining them. Tomorrow is completely free and I am grateful. Please send comments to my email woods_m2002@yahoo.com I am unable to view the blog here.
